Hans-Peter is working as a commercial photographer for nearly two decades now. He went through all the technical conversions coming along with the job in order to become what he is now: A professional who is used to work under controlled conditions in the studio, exposed to unpredictable nature on location as well as supervising 3D artists in a CG environment.
„Hans-Peter, how did your work changes over the last 20 years?“„Actually it does not change that much! I'm still creating pictures and really get excited about making more or less profane objects look beautiful. The tools have changed a lot, but I always enjoyed the innovations. For example: When we all swiched to digital cameras I really loved the possibility to include spontaneous or random situations into my workflow... something that was difficult before.“
„What about CGI?“„CGI is offering so many opportunities regarding imagination and composition of a picture... To be honest: At first I was afraid, CGI would lock the photographers up into dark rooms for weeks! Finally I found out: Yes, that's what it does... sometimes! But CGI also makes clients consider a location shoot that didn't think about it before, because of their budget. I love to travel – and since we have CGI, I travel more!“
„I saw your Calendar project...“„... Yes, it's a Trucks Calendar, a good example for what I just said: We are a small team, just two people, traveling all around the world to shoot backgrounds and spheres. Back home we supervise a 3D artist who integrates a Truck into the picture. But still there is so much classic photography involved – especially because we always show genuine locations! Wait... one project was different: We had to show historic trucks and there were no 3D data files existing! We searched the world for collectors of old trucks and visited them.“ „Thank you!“
